Texas Community Care to Hold Town Hall Meeting

November 30, 2006, Greater Austin – The Annual Election Period for Medicare Advantage plans began November 15, leaving many Medicare beneficiaries confused and anxious about their options for coverage.  Whether they have received an overwhelming amount of information about the choices available, or not enough, many feel ill equipped to make this important decision.

Committed to walking Greater Austin community members through their Medicare choices every step of the way, Texas Community Care is inviting all Medicare beneficiaries to a Town Hall meeting to learn about Medicare changes, benefits and alternatives, the Medicare Prescription Drug Program, enrollment and more.  The Town Hall will also feature speaker Michael Wilson, Ph.D., Coordinator for the Aging Texas Well Initiative and Senior Gerontologist for the State of Texas.  He will be speaking about healthy aging, exercise and nutrition.

The Town Hall meeting will take place at the Allen R. Baca Center for Senior and Community Activities at 301 W. Bagdad, Bldg. 2 in Round Rock on Monday, December 11, 2006 at 11:00  a.m.  In addition to an informational session and forum for questions, lunch will be provided for all attendees by Texas Community Care and there will be a free, no obligation raffle giveaway.  A sales representative will be present with information and Individual Enrollment Forms.  For accommodation of persons with special needs at sales meetings call 1-800-705-0766 (TTY/TDD 866-573-8613).

“With the massive changes we’ve seen to the Medicare system over the past couple of years, it’s no wonder there has been a lot of uncertainty,” said Sharon Alvis, Executive Director for Texas Community Care.  “But once we get past the initial confusion, I think these new choices improve the health care delivery for beneficiaries” Texas Community Care provides benefit plans for Medicare-eligible beneficiaries in Travis and Williamson counties.

“We’re a locally operated organization,” said Alvis.  “These meetings are a great way for people to learn more and have their questions answered by us in person, and we are available in our office to continue to answer any questions they have along the way.”

While providing all of the same benefits as standard Medicare coverage for a lower cost, Texas Community Care also offers much more, such as additional coverage for routine vision and preventive services, including routine annual physical exams.  Extra value-added services like fitness center memberships make Texas Community Care a comprehensive and affordable health care plan.

Texas Community Care offers one plan with zero monthly premiums and one with low co-payments and expanded benefits:
