Columbia Community Care to Hold Town Hall Meeting
December 11, 2006, Kennewick, Wash. – The Annual Election Period for Medicare Advantage plans began November 15, leaving many Tri-Cities and Yakima Medicare beneficiaries confused and anxious about their options for coverage. Whether they have received an overwhelming amount of information about the choices available, or not enough, many feel ill equipped to make this important decision.
Committed to walking Tri-Cities and Yakima community members through their Medicare choices every step of the way, Columbia Community Care is inviting all Medicare beneficiaries to a Town Hall meeting to learn about Medicare changes, benefits and alternatives, the Medicare Prescription Drug Program, enrollment and more. The Town Hall will also feature speaker Stephanie Allen, Family Caregiver Support Specialist at Aging & Long Term Care, who will discuss “Powerful Tools for Caregivers.” These tools include how to find resources in the community; how to communicate with doctors and other family members; relaxation, stress relievers and self-care; and how to deal with emotions such as anger, depression and guilt.
The Town Hall meeting will take place at the Pasco Senior Center, 1315 N. 7th Ave. in Pasco on Monday, December 18, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. In addition to an informational session and forum for questions, refreshments will be provided for all attendees by Columbia Community Care and there will be a free, no obligation raffle giveaway. A sales representative will be present with information and Individual Enrollment Forms. For accommodation of persons with special needs at sales meetings call 1-800-658-2313 (TTY/TDD 866-573-8613).
“With the massive changes we’ve seen to the Medicare system over the past couple of years, it’s no wonder there has been a lot of uncertainty,” said Ken Bryan, Executive Director for Columbia Community Care. “But once we get past the initial confusion, I think these new choices improve health care delivery for Medicare beneficiaries.”
“We’re a locally operated organization,” continued Bryan. “These meetings are a great way for people to learn more and have their questions answered by us in person, and we are available in our office to continue to answer any questions they have along the way.”
While providing all of the same benefits as standard Medicare coverage for a lower cost, Columbia Community Care also offers much more, such as additional coverage for routine vision and preventive services, including routine annual physical exams. Extra value-added services like fitness center memberships make Columbia Community Care a comprehensive and affordable health care plan.
Columbia Community Care offers one plan with zero monthly premiums and one with low co-payments and expanded benefits:
